Business-unit leases and business transfers

We guide clients through the entire sale or lease of a going concern. Our team performs a thorough analysis of the target company, identifies strategic assets, selects the most suitable contractual framework and assesses the business’s ability to maintain historic turnover and margins. If the tenant defaults, we first attempt mediation; if that fails, we litigate to terminate the contract and recover damages.

We also act—both extra-judicially and in court—on non-compete violations and contractual liability.

Evictions for arrears or expiry

We handle eviction proceedings for expiry or for non-payment in both residential and commercial leases. (Eviction for non-payment is not available for business-unit leases.) In housing leases, tenants may request a 90-day grace period to cure the arrears—an option that does not exist for commercial leases. Once the eviction order is granted, we manage the enforcement stage until the property is returned to the landlord.
